Heidi’s Educational Philosophy
My Educational Philosophy
Student-family-teacher relationship
The role of an educator is to assist children in their academic journey as well as teach them how to be good citizens. Teaching students how to interact with each other and the community is one of the most important purposes of school. This starts with creating a positive environment in the classroom. As a teacher, I will make sure to create a community that involves both the students and the parents. I believe that every student comes from a different background and each one deserves the same effort and attention. I will ensure that each student feels important and seen in their academic journey. This means that the student has control over their learning and includes parents in the student’s academic journey. To keep the student at the center of their learning, as a teacher, I must give growth opportunities. I believe this does not just happen in the classroom but at home and in the community.
The role of an educator
As I take on the role of teacher and educator, I believe that the most important feature of this is being flexible. Education is a constantly changing vocation and staying updated and educated is essential to creating a positive learning experience for students. The flexible facilitator assists students in how they take control of their learning. Being able to stay adaptable and welcoming to change is how I will stay up to date in my classroom.
Another key idea that I bring into my classroom is welcoming failure. I think that failure means that there is room for growth and improvement. Being able to admit our mistakes creates a safe environment where everyone feels comfortable taking a risk.
Creating a positive classroom environment
In my classroom, I will welcome all differences with open arms. I believe that every child has the potential to learn in their own individual ways and that they all deserve a proper education. Growth is achieved through intentional planning and giving every child equal opportunities to achieve the same goals in different ways. By creating routines and relationships, I will be able to connect with each student and maintain a positive classroom management system. This will allow me and my students to have mutual respect for each other and create a culturally competent classroom.
I believe that group-oriented projects play a key role in the way that students grow on their path to achieving goals. In my classroom, helping students set goals will lead them to reach their full potential and continue in their journey to be successful members of society. I believe that working with others and being able to collaborate in groups is crucial to a child’s development. In doing this, I will allow my students to overcome challenges independently and learn how to collaborate and communicate with others.
